AUTUMN READING GOALS

I’ve been so excited by my TBR pile recently that I thought I’d try and curate a little Autumn list to work through rather than just mood choosing. I wanted to pick out some books that fit the moods and vibes of both the cosy ‘ber’ months as well as the darker narratives of Halloween and Samhain.

So here are my Autumn hopefuls:

Kindle:

  1. Carmilla – J. Sheridan Le Fanu
  2. The Lamb – Lucy Rose
  3. Villette – Charlotte Brontë
  4. Hunger Stone – Kat Dunn
  5. The Pumpkin Spice Cafe – Laurie Gilmore
  6. The Cinnamon Bun Book Store – Laurie Gilmore
  7. My Big Fat Vampire Wedding – Jessica Gadziala
  8. My Dark Vanessa – Kate Elizabeth Russell

Books:

  1. Perfume – The Story Of A Murderer – Patrick Süskind (I first read this when I was 18, a book found in the German section of my school library. I loved it at the time, and have been eager for a re-read)
  2. Krabat – Ostfried Preusler (again this is a book I previously read as a teen but as I haven’t read a German book in ages, I thought this was another fitting re-read for autumn)

Audio:

  1. Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil – V.E. Schwab
  2. The Lighthouse Witches – C. J. Cooke
  3. The Rose Bargain – Sasha Peyton Smith
  4. The Rebel Witch – Kristen Ciccarelli
  5. Jane Eyre – Charlotte Bronte (as it’s a re-read I thought I’d audio it this time round)

  3. What a wonderful TBR, I hope you have a lovely time checking out all of these titles and look forward to heading what you think of them all.

    Ive read three of these so far and really enjoyed them all: Hungerstone,  Bury Our Bonrs and The Lighthouse Witchss  The Lamb and Jane Eyre are two I’d love to try and fit in this season too. And I have the Laurie Gilmore series on the romance TBR I’m working on in an effort to actually get back into the genre sometime 😅 I majorly need to read my copy of The Rose Bargain to and forgot all about My Dark Vanessa, I was very intrigued when it first came out so I’ll have to put it on my priority TBR.

    I hope you love all of these titles and that the rereads go wonderfully too.

    1. Thanks Charlotte – I’ve really been enjoying getting stuck into it so far, although I feel like I need to speed up :p
      Out of the three you’ve read, I’ve now finished Bury Our Bones and just started Hungerstone 😀
      Ooh I really look forward to hearing what you think on Jane Eyre! And the Lamb, yes I’m struggling to decide which order to work my way through the books as I’m not sure I’ll finish them all in Autumn – may drag it this out into November though.
      And yes, I haven’t heard anyone on booktok or bookstagram talk about My Dark Vanessa, but I was intrigued too so we’ll see how that story spins out.

        How did yoh find Bones? I hope you have a good time with Hungeretone. I’ll let you know how I find it 😊 and thats kind of what happened with my fall choices, a lot were carried over from my Summer Of Horror TBR 😂
        I think I saw it mentioned back when it came out but I really can’t remember what was said about it now. I look forward to seeing what you think of it.

      2. I really enjoyed most of Bones, but was a bit disappointed in the ending tbf. I didn’t know what to expect and obviously guessed the stories would all collide at some point, but when they did it felt a bit weak and rushed. Their individual stories all felt stronger and I thoroughly enjoyed 😀 And not far into Hungerstone yet, but enjoying it so far 🙂 xo

      3. Im sorry to hear that you found the ending rushed, although I do remember seeing someone (I can’t remember who) say the same thing. Im glad you enjoyed it for the most part though and generally enjoyed the individual storylines. Did you have a favourite?

      5. Sorry for disappearing and the consequently massively late reply. At the time of reading I said Charlotte’s was my favourite as I adored the London Season inspired setting. I think maybe its Maria’s on reflection though as I loved her complexity and how big a period of time we got to follow her over. Its hard to say for certain though (hence the change 😂)
