Hey there beautiful souls,
Welcome to Simply Carina xo – the musings of a 30 something year old gal trying to live more presently and mindfully and navigate the work life balance one cup of coffee at a time whilst suffering from anxiety (and yes, I am aware that coffee and anxiety don’t blend well).
Coffee roaster by day and self professed couch potato by night, I share snippets of my everyday from work life and home renovations to dog friendly adventures across the North East and beyond.
A little more about me…
I’m a bilingual baby and was born in Germany, where I spent most of my childhood, before moving to the UK aged 10. I’ve lived in County Durham ever since, apart from my 4 year stint in Sunderland where I went to University to do an Art & Design Foundation followed by a degree in Fine Art.
After University I went to work full time for my dad at his speciality coffee shop for a few years, before we decided to branch out and open our own very coffee roastery together – KAFFEEHAUS COFFEE ROASTERS. As business started to grow, we decided to sell the coffee shop to concentrate on roasting coffee and providing training and consultancy for other cafes and business in the North East of England.
Nowadays you’ll find me busy roasting, brewing, training, networking, marketing and wearing various other business hats as I keep growing my coffee business with dad and sharing our passion for ethically sourced speciality quality coffee and building sustainable relationships all the way from bean to cup.
When I’m not at work, or couch potatoing and snuggling up for a Netflix binge after a long day at work, you might also find me trying to get my creative juices flowing with various arts and crafts projects, getting my nose stuck in a book, or trying to beat my partner at Hive or Quirkle to name a few of our favourite games.
Being self-employed means there is no regular 9-5 (which has its pros and cons) but when our time off aligns, my partner Luis and I are either off exploring what the North East has to offer, along with our show cocker Maya, or busy working on renovating our first home together; a dated but in decent condition, 1970’s semi-detached house nestled in a quiet cul de sac in beautiful County Durham.
